In the UK, the OSPAP route takes about 1 year of study plus a pre-registration year. In Canada, the PEBC process takes 12 to 18 months including exams and a structured practical training period. Australia requires passing the KAPS exam followed by a supervised intern year, totalling roughly 18 to 24 months. Ireland's PSI process takes 6 to 12 months depending on whether you do the adaptation period or aptitude test.
Can I work in a hospital or only in community pharmacy?
Full registration in any of these countries allows you to work in both community and hospital settings. Hospital pharmacy often requires additional clinical pharmacy training or experience, and competition for hospital roles can be higher.
