Fastest PR process countries, one by one

Canada: PR about 6 months after you apply

Express Entry grants PR directly, with no Canadian job offer or time in Canada needed. You create a profile, and the highest scores receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

• After the ITA: you send your full application. IRCC's service standard for it is 6 months. In September 2025 it met that standard for Federal Skilled Workers and the Canadian Experience Class, while provincial nominees took about 9 months (IRCC, 2025).
• Before the ITA: this is the unknown part. Some profiles are invited quickly. Others are never invited.

The pool works like a job shortlist, not a bus queue. Waiting longer does not move you up. Only a higher score does. Age, English or French results and skilled work experience drive the score. Australia: permanent from day one with the 189

The subclass 189 visa lets you "live and work permanently anywhere in Australia". You need an occupation on the skilled list, a positive skills assessment, an invitation, at least 65 points, and you must be under 45 when invited (Home Affairs, 2026).

New Zealand: residence in about 3 months for Green List jobs

If you work in, or have an offer for, a Green List Tier 1 job with an accredited employer, you can apply for the Straight to Residence Visa. You must be 55 or younger. Immigration New Zealand processes 80% of these within 3 months. After 2 years on it, you can apply for a Permanent Resident Visa (Immigration New Zealand, 2026). Germany: settlement in 21 months with an EU Blue Card

Japan: 1 year at 80 points

UAE: fastest long-term residence, but not PR

The Golden Visa gives 5 or 10 years of renewable residence with no sponsor. Investors qualify with at least AED 2 million in property or other capital. Doctors, scientists and other exceptional talent can also qualify (UAE Government Portal, 2026).

USA: fast only for EB-1 and EB-2 NIW

EB-1A (extraordinary ability) and EB-2 NIW (national interest waiver) let you petition for yourself, with no employer. But the US caps green cards per country of birth. If you were born in India, the wait for EB-2 can run for years. Check the monthly Visa Bulletin before you plan around it.

Switzerland vs Austria: in which country can you get PR early?

For most people from outside the EU, Austria is earlier.

• Austria: after 5 years of settlement you can get "Permanent Residence EU" if you pass Module 2 of the Integration Agreement, which is B1 German (City of Vienna, 2026).
• Switzerland: the C permit comes after 5 or 10 years, depending on your nationality (Canton of Zurich, 2026). For most non-EU nationals the regular period is 10 years (SEM, 2026). An early C permit after 5 years is possible if you are well integrated, with at least B1 spoken and A1 written in a national language (Canton of Zurich, 2026).

Which Caribbean countries offer the quickest route?

The Caribbean's fast routes give citizenship, not PR. Dominica, for example, grants citizenship for a US$200,000 contribution, and the process typically takes 3 to 6 months (Dominica CBIU, 2026).
